The Philadelphia Eagles Stadium Literally Powers the City

Lincoln Financial LNC Field has been home to some pretty incredible football action in the first decade since its opening. Take, 4th and 26, for instance. But as of this month, it can boast to be home to a perennial powerhouse, regardless of the Eagles' performance on the field. More than 11,000 solar panels have been installed on the sides and roof of the stadium, producing 21,033.7 kilowatt hours of heat on a recent sunny day, according to Philly.com. The panels will be owned, maintained and operated by NRG Energy NRG of Princeton, New Jersey. That amounts to enough electricity to power two average American homes for year. Its expected that the panels will perform even better in the summer months. Check out how awesome the armored stadium looks for yourself, courtesy of Reddit user GameAnthropologist.
