US Stock Futures Mixed After Disappointing Apple Results

US stock futures are mixed this morning, after disappointing results from Apple AAPL. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 7 points to 13,726.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 2.60 points to 1,487.50. Nasdaq 100 futures tumbled 34.50 points to 2,724.25. US stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 0.49% to 13,779.33, the S&P 500 index rising 0.15% to 1,494.81 and the Nasdaq 100 index climbing 0.33% to 3,153.67. Data on weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while the Markit PMI manufacturing index for January will be released at 8:58 a.m. ET. The Conference Board's index of leading indicators for December will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. 3M Company MMM is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $1.41 per share on revenue of $7.18 billion. Baxter International BAX is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.26 per share on revenue of $3.72 billion. Lockheed Martin LMT is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.82 per share on revenue of $11.16 billion. E*TRADE Financial ETFC is estimated to post a Q4 loss at $0.54 per share on revenue of $476.68 million. Microsoft MSFT is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.75 per share on revenue of $21.57 billion. KeyCorp KEY is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.21 per share on revenue of $1.05 billion. Dover DOV is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.07 per share on revenue of $2.00 billion. Starbucks SBUX is expected to post its Q1 EPS at $0.57 on revenue of $3.84 billion. Bristol-Myers Squibb Company BMY is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.43 per share on revenue of $4.15 billion. Southwest Airlines Co LUV is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.07 per share on revenue of $4.21 billion. Union Pacific UNP is projected to report its Q4 EPS at $2.16 on revenue of $5.31 billion. Raytheon Co RTN is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.31 per share on revenue of $6.41 billion. Apple issued downbeat revenue forecast for the March quarter. Netflix NFLX reported strong Q4 results and issued upbeat revenue forecast for the first quarter. European markets were mixed today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.06%, London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.20%, German DAX 30 Index fell 0.06% and French CAC 40 Index rose 0.20%. Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 1.28%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.79% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index climbing 0.45%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 0.15% and India's Sensex declined 0.51%. Japan posted wider-than-expected trade deficit in December. Japan's exports dropped 5.8% y/y in December, while imports gained 1.9%. The country's trade deficit came in at 641.5 billion yen ($7.24 billion). Crude oil for March delivery gained $0.37 to trade at $95.60 a barrel. The ICE dollar index gained 0.11% to trade at 80.05, up from 79.938 on Wednesday.
