US Stock Futures Up Ahead Of Economic Data

US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 37 points to 13,221.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 4.80 points to 1,431.80. Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 12.25 points to 2,674.25. US stocks closed higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging 0.76% to 13,235.39, the S&P 500 index rising 1.19% to 1,430.36 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 1.32% to 3,010.60. The Commerce Department is scheduled to release the current account numbers for the third quarter at 8:30 a.m. ET. NAHB housing market index for December will be released at 10 a.m. ET. FactSet Research Systems FDS is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $1.11 per share on revenue of $212.26 million. Oracle ORCL is expected to post its Q2 earnings at $0.61 per share on revenue of $9.03 billion. AAR AIR is projected to post its Q2 earnings at $0.41 per share on revenue of $544.54 million. Jefferies Group JEF is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.32 per share on revenue of $722.56 million. HEICO HEI is expected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.43 per share on revenue of $237.38 million. Sanderson Farms SAFM is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.32 per share on revenue of $635.75 million. Diamond Foods DMND reported better-than-expected Q1 adjusted profit. Boeing Co BA lifted its dividend by 10% to 48.5 cents a share. The company also announced its plans to buy back $1.5 billion to $2 billion of its shares. SHFL Entertainment SHFL reported an 11% rise in its fourth-quarter net income. European markets were mostly higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index rose 0.34%, London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.38%, French CAC 40 Index declined 0.01% and German DAX 30 index rose 0.50%. Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.96%, China's Shanghai Composite jumping 0.10% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rising 0.49%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.08% and India's Sensex climbed 0.63%. The ICE dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.16% to trade at 79.46. The euro gained 0.16% versus the dollar to trade at $1.3185 on Tuesday.
