By 10:12 am, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 144.18 points, or 1.15%, to 12,732.49, while the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index had gained 19.17 points, or 1.41%. The NASDAQ composite index rose 39.01 points, or 1.37%.
