Harris Corporation HRS, an international communications and information
technology company, has received orders totaling about $12 million to supply
Falcon^® tactical radio systems and field support to two countries in Africa.
The radios will be used to provide line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight
tactical voice and data communications to armed forces personnel. The order
was received in the first quarter of Harris' 2013 fiscal year.
Harris is providing these nations with Falcon III^® RF-7800V VHF and Falcon
II^® RF-5800H HF tactical radio systems, along with training, installation and
field support services. The orders include base stations, vehicular systems
and manpack and handheld radios.
“The Falcon radios will provide security forces in these countries with combat
proven, high-performance tactical voice and data communications,'' said
Brendan O'Connell, president, international business, Harris RF
Communications. “These capabilities are vital on a range of missions. This
order further solidifies the Falcon family as the international standard for
tactical communications.''
The RF-7800V family covers the 30 MHz to 108 MHz frequency range and supports
data rates up to 192 Kbps, making it the fastest combat net radio available
today. The RF-7800V also provides time-critical BMS reports, while delivering
simultaneous networked voice and data communications to multiple users.
