7 States Just in For Obama, Romney Wins Another 3

A plethora of states reported polling results at 8 p.m. Eastern time with Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Colombia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey and Rhode Island all going in favor of President Obama. Illinois is the President's home state while Delaware is the home state of Vice President Joe Biden. Obama has also been declared the winner of three of Maine's four electoral votes. Only Maine and Nebraska split electoral votes. Connecticut has now voted in favor of a Democrat presidential candidate five elections in a row while Rhode Island has backed a Democrat for the seventh consecutive time. Republican challenger Mitt Romney has been declared the winner in Alabama, Mississippi and Oklahoma. This is the ninth presidential election in a row Alabama has backed the GOP.
