US Stock Futures Slightly Lower Ahead Of Non-farm Payrolls Data

US stock futures are slightly lower this morning, as investors are awaiting non-farm payrolls data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 8 points to 13,157.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 0.90 points to 1,422.30. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 1.25 points to 2,683.50. US stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 1.04% to 13,232.62, the S&P 500 index rising 1.09% to 1,427.59 and the Nasdaq 100 index jumping 1.44% to 3,020.06. Data on non-farm payrolls for October will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co CTB is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.86 per share on revenue of $1.11 billion. Gartner IT is expected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.35 per share on revenue of $377.28 million. Progressive PGR is estimated to report its Q4 EPS at $0.34 on revenue of $4.11 billion. Chevron CVX is estimated to post its Q3 earnings at $3.40 per share on revenue of $72.56 billion. Harman International Industries HAR is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.78 per share on revenue of $1.08 billion. Sealed Air SEE is expected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.31 per share on revenue of $1.98 billion. Huntsman HUN is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.51 on revenue of $2.90 billion. The Madison Square Garden Company MSG is estimated to report its Q1 EPS at $0.18 on revenue of $203.90 million. Starbucks SBUX reported upbeat fourth-quarter results and lifted its profit outlook for the fiscal year. Priceline.com PCLN reported a 27% surge in its profit for the third quarter. LinkedIn LNKD reported better-than-expected third-quarter adjusted earnings. European markets were mostly lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index climbed 0.01%, London's FTSE 100 Index fell 0.16%, French CAC 40 Index dropped 0.22% and German DAX 30 index declined 0.10%. Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 1.17%, China's Shanghai Composite gaining 0.60% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rising 0.08%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index surged 1.33% and India's Sensex gained 0.99%. Gold futures for December fell $7.60 to trade at $1,707.90 an ounce. However, crude oil for December dropped $0.80 to $86.29 per barrel. The ICE dollar index (DXY) gained 0.34% to trade at 80.31, up from 80.052 late in North America Thursday. The euro dropped 0.5% versus the dollar to trade at $1.2877. The US dollar gained 0.2% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥ 80.2950.
