Benzinga Mid-Day Market Update

Mid-way through trading Monday, the Dow traded down 0.22 percent to 13,580.43 while the NASDAQ fell 0.75 percent to 3,112.72. The S&P also fell, decreasing 0.42 percent to 1,454.81. As a reminder, earnings season officially starts Tuesday 10/9, so watch for more movement and market volatility starting then. Equities Trading UP Netflix NFLX continued its rally midway through Monday, rising 10.43 percent to $73.50 following an upgrade at Morgan Stanley. Questcor Pharmaceuticals QCOR also continued its rise, trading up 7.23 percent to $20.80 after a few firms speculated that the Achtar policy update was positive for the company. Shares of CarMax KMX also traded up, rising 9.10 percent to $31.84. Equities Trading DOWN Green Dot Corporation GDOT dropped 19.92 percent, falling to $10.29 after investor fears that Wal-Mart WMT would be dropping its contract with the company. Progress Software PRGS was also down, falling 12.29 percent to $18.84 after the company announced its CEO would be leaving in December, and warned of some ‘slippage' in the fourth-quarter. Shares Intersil Corporation ISIL also fell, trading down 7.03 percent to $7.54 following a series of downgrades Monday morning. Commodities In commodity news, Oil traded down 0.86 percent to $89.11, while Gold traded down 0.21 percent to $1,777.00. Silver was also down, falling 0.58 percent to $34.00. Economics Economic news was particularly light on Monday, with no significant releases being made.
