Benzinga Mid-Day Market Update
Mid-way through trading Monday, the Dow traded down 0.22 percent to 13,580.43 while the NASDAQ fell 0.81 percent to 3,110.66. The S&P also fell, decreasing 0.42 percent to 1,454.81.
As a reminder, earnings season officially starts Tuesday October 9, so watch for more movement and market volatility starting then.
Equities Trading UP Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) continued its rally midway through Monday, rising 9.95 percent to $73.18 following an upgrade at Morgan Stanley.
Questcor Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: QCOR) also continued its rise, trading up 6.03 percent to $20.57 after a few firms speculated that the Achtar policy update was positive for the company.
Shares of CarMax (NYSE: KMX) also traded up, rising 10.11 percent to $32.14.
Progress Software (NASDAQ: PRGS) was also down, falling 12.57 percent to $18.78 after the company announced its CEO would be leaving in December, and warned of some ‘slippage' in the fourth-quarter.
Shares Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL) also fell, trading down 7.27 percent to $7.52 following a series of downgrades Monday morning.
Commodities In commodity news, Oil traded down 0.50 percent to $89.43, while Gold traded down 0.24 percent to $1,776.50. Silver was also down, falling 0.58 percent to $34.00. Economics Economic news was particularly light on Monday, with no significant releases being made.
