US Stock Futures Down Ahead Of FedEx Earnings

US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings from FedEx FDX. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 31 points to 13,439.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 3.40 points to 1,450.60. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 5.25 points to 2,841.00. US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.30% to 13,553.10, the S&P 500 index falling 0.31% to 1,461.19 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 0.17% to 3,178.67. Data on Q2 current-account will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. A home builders' index for the month of September will be released at 10 a.m. ET. FedEx is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $1.40 per share on revenue of $10.70 billion. Schiff Nutrition International SHF is expected to report its Q1 EPS at $0.20 on revenue of $83.60 million. Manchester United plc MANU is projected to post a quarterly loss of $0.03 per share on revenue of $120.6 million. Advanced Micro Devices AMD announced the resignation of it Chief Financial Officer Thomas Seifert. Shares of Apple AAPL surged 0.30% to $701.90 in the after-hours trading session after the company booked orders for more than 2 million iPhone 5 models during its first 24 hours. OCZ Technology Group OCZ announced the resignation of its Chief Executive Ryan Petersen. European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.65%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.64%, French CAC 40 Index fell 1.28% and German DAX 30 index declined 0.95%. Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average falling 0.39%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.91% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropping 0.09%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.27% and India's Sensex declined 0.32%. Nymex crude-oil futures declined $0.08 to trade at $96.54 a barrel in electronic trade, while gold futures fell $8.70 to $1,761.90 an ounce. The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.22% to trade at 79.13. The euro declined 0.45% versus the dollar to trade at $1.3057. The US dollar dropped 0.1% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥78.65.
