US Stock Futures Slightly Lower Ahead Of Economic Data
US stock futures are slightly lower this morning, as investors are awaiting economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 9 points to 13,077.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 0.80 points to 1,407.00. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 1 point to 2,779.75.
US stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.17% to 13,102.99, the S&P 500 index falling 0.08% to 1,409.30 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 0.13% to 3,077.14.
The Commerce Department is scheduled to release revised Q2 GDP data at 8:30 a.m ET. Data on pending home sales for July is scheduled for release at 10 a.m. ET, and the Fed's Beige Book will be released at 2 p.m. ET.
The Fresh Market (NASDAQ: TFM) is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.27 on revenue of $307.99 million. H. J. Heinz Company (NYSE: HNZ) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.80 per share on revenue of $2.84 billion.
Genesco (NYSE: GCO) is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.27 on revenue of $533.60 million. Brown-Forman (NYSE: BF-B) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.62 per share on revenue of $892.83 million.
Zale (NYSE: ZLC) is expected to report a Q4 loss at $0.84 per share on revenue of $405.38 million. Greif (NYSE: GEF) is estimated to post its Q3 EPS at $0.72 on revenue of $1.11 billion.
Dycom Industries (NYSE: DY) reported weaker-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter results.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index declined 0.33%, French CAC 40 index dropped 0.61%. London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.48% and German DAX 30 index fell 0.62%.
Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.40%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.96% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.13%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index declined 0.12% and India's Sensex dipped 0.80%.
Gold for December delivery dropped $1.90 to trade at $1,667.80 an ounce, while crude oil for October delivery declined $0.80 to $95.54 a barrel.
The ICE dollar index (DXY) rose 0.06% to trade at 81.42, versus 81.334 in late North American trading on Tuesday.
