iPhone 5 Could Face Shortages for Rumored September Launch

Foxconn, the Taiwan-based contract manufacturer for Apple's AAPL iPhone and iPad, has produced 3 million iPhones for the September launch of the iPhone 5, according to Want China Times. That's about half of the 6 million handsets Apple reportedly needs to ensure a successful launch with no shortages. The shortfall is due to Foxconn's difficulty in hiring enough workers to handle the production demands. Foxconn has reportedly raised salaries to attract new workers and avoid losing existing ones. The rumored September 12 launch date has not been confirmed by Apple.
