US Stock Futures Up; Euro Rises Against Dollar

US stock futures are higher this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 28 points to 13,257.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 2.90 points to 1,417.60. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 8.25 points to 2,788.25. US stocks closed mostly flat on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.03% to 13,271.64, the S&P 500 index falling 0.03 points to 1,418.13 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 0.01% to 3,076.21. Barnes & Noble BKS is estimated to post a Q1 loss at $0.98 per share on revenue of $1.48 billion. Medtronic MDT is expected to report its Q1 EPS at $0.85 on revenue of $4.00 billion. Best Buy Co BBY is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.31 per share on revenue of $10.63 billion. Daktronics DAKT is expected to report its Q1 EPS at $0.04 on revenue of $120.37 million. Dell DELL is expected to post its Q2 earnings at $0.45 per share on revenue of $14.66 billion. Analog Devices ADI is estimated to post its Q3 EPS at $0.57 on revenue of $693.20 million. American Woodmark AMWD is expected to report a Q1 loss at $0.03 per share on revenue of $138.17 million. DSW DSW is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.62 on revenue of $510.94 million. Urban Outfitters URBN reported stronger-than-expected Q2 results. ImmunoCellular Therapeutics Ltd IMUC announced the resignation of its President and CEO Manish Singh. Nordson NDSN issued upbeat fiscal fourth-quarter outlook. European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index surged 0.38%, French CAC 40 index gained 0.79%. London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.43% and German DAX 30 index rose 0.60%. Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average falling 0.16%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.54% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.43%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index dropped 0.02% and India's Sensex rose 1.09%. Nymex crude-oil futures rose $0.62 to $96.59 a barrel in electronic trade, while gold futures climbed $3.30 to trade at $1,626.30 an ounce. The dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.4% to 82.146. The euro gained 0.5% against the dollar to trade at $1.2409.
