US Stock Futures Up; Bernanke, Jobless Claims In Focus

US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting congressional testimony by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 15 points to 12,434.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 3.20 points to 1,318.70. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 6.25 points to 2,556.25. US stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging 2.37% to 12,414.79, the S&P 500 index rising 2.30% to 1,315.13 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 2.40% to 2,844.72. Nymex crude-oil futures dropped $0.14 to $84.88 a barrel in electronic trade, while gold futures declined $10.80 an ounce to trade at $1,622. The dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.04% to trade at 82.17.
