Apple has reportedly begun the manufacturing process for its long-awaited line of smart televisions.
But there's a catch: as the first batch in what is sure to be a lengthy production schedule, these Apple TVs are only test models and will never be seen by consumers.
Want China Times
has the translated report from China Business News, which has since been picked up by
AppleInsider
and other publications. In short, China Business News claims that Foxconn is going through a trial production run of the new TVs. This corresponds nicely with an earlier report from China Daily, which claimed that Foxconn's chief had
publicly confirmed
that it was making preparations for Apple's highly anticipated television. Foxconn
denied the report
, but not after letting it spread through the media -- and most of the world -- for more than three days. Unlike China Daily's report, China Business News doesn't have a Foxconn leader to point to as the source of its information. Rather, it claims to have spoken to "informed sources," none of which have been identified.
