today released its Monthly Activity Report for April 2012. Daily Average Revenue Trades (“DARTs”) for April were 145,769, a seven percent decrease from March and a nine percent decrease from the year-ago period. The Company added 36,060 gross new brokerage accounts in April, ending the month with approximately 2.8 million brokerage accounts – an increase of 9,305 from March. Total accounts ended the month at approximately 4.4 million. Net new brokerage assets were positive $0.4 billion in the month. During the month, customer security holdings decreased by $0.2 billion, and brokerage-related cash decreased by $1.1 billion to $29.9 billion, as customers were net buyers of approximately $1.6 billion in securities. Bank-related cash and deposits decreased $0.3 billion, ending the month at $7.7 billion.
