Around 9:40am, Wynn Resorts filed an 8-K reporting that the company had received a land grant in Macau for another hotel. Shares immediately moved up on the news, rallying roughly 6%.
Then, around 10:20am, the company's stock was halted on news.
In a just-released second filing, the company stated that the earlier report was in fact false. That the company did not authorize the filing.
Shares are expected to resume at 11:55am. Given the news, shares of Wynn may be likely to pullback after investors who got in on the earlier news end up disappointed.
