US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are lower this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 60 points to 12,901.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 7.40 points to 1,355.90. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 13.75 points to 2,587.75. US stocks closed mostly higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.01% to 12,982.95, the S&P 500 index gaining 0.17% to 1,365.74 and the Nasdaq 100 index rising 0.23% to 2,963.75. Data on pending home sales will be released at 10 a.m. ET. Armstrong World Industries Inc AWI is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.30 per share on revenue of $670.3 million. Universal Health Services Inc UHS is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.90 on revenue of $1.87 billion. URS Corporation URS is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.98 on revenue of $2.54 billion. AES Corp AES is estimated to post its Q4 earnings at $0.26 per share on sales of $3.46 billion. Southwestern Energy Company SWN is expected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.47 on revenue of $763.49 million. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co CTB is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.38 per share on revenue of $980.2 million. Charter Communications Inc CHTR is expected to post a Q4 loss at $0.23 per share on revenue of $1.83 billion. KAR Auction Services Inc KAR is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.22 on revenue of $466.95 million. Berkshire Hathaway Inc BRK reported a 30% drop in its fourth-quarter profit. European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index dropped 0.82%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.79%, French CAC 40 index fell 1.21% and German DAX 30 index dropped 1.25%. Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 0.14%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.30% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.79%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.88% and India's Sensex dropped 2.67%. Nymex crude-oil futures dropped $1.40 to $108.37 a barrel in electronic trade.
