US Stock Futures Up After China Data

US stock futures are higher this morning, after upbeat data from China. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 102 points to 12,492.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 11.20 points to 1,300.10. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 22.75 points to 2,396.25. US stocks closed lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.39% to 12,422.06, the S&P 500 index declining 0.50% to 1,289.09 and the Nasdaq 100 index dipping 0.52% to 2,710.67. The Empire State Manufacturing Survey for January will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. TD Ameritrade Holding Corp AMTD is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.26 per share on revenue of $672 million. Forest Laboratories Inc FRX is estimated to report its Q3 EPS at $1.01 on revenue of $1.18 billion. Wells Fargo & Company WFC is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.72 per share on revenue of $20.08 billion. McMoRan Exploration Company MMR is expected to post a Q4 loss at $0.13 per share on revenue of $116.54 million. Citigroup Inc C is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.59 per share on revenue of $18.6 billion. M&T Bank Corporation MTB is projected to report its Q4 EPS at $1.46 on revenue of $991.95 million. Cree Inc CREE is expected to post its Q2 EPS at $0.26 on revenue of $309.85 million. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp LGF announced its plans to acquire Summit Entertainment for $412.5 million in cash and stock. Walter Energy Inc WLT lowered its Q4 earnings forecast. European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index rose 0.98%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.91%, French CAC 40 index rose 1.42% and German DAX 30 index surged 1.70%. Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average surging 1.0508%, China's Shanghai Composite surging 4.18% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 1.63%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 3.2377% and India's Sensex gained 1.71%. China's gross domestic product in the October to December period climbed 8.9% y/y.
