today announced that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Microelectronics Technology, Inc and MTI Laboratory Inc. in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Southern Division. The suit alleges that MTI is infringing US Patent 6,818,477 entitled “Method of Mounting a Component in an Edge Plated Hole Formed in a Printed Circuit Board.” The suit further alleges that MTI is making, using, selling, offering for sale and/or importing communications products such as Remote Radio Heads which contain circuit boards that embody the inventions claimed in US Patent 6,818,477 owned by Powerwave Technologies. “Powerwave was a pioneer in the development of Remote Radio Heads for commercial wireless networks and has been a leading supplier of Remote Radio Heads having sold thousands and thousands globally,” said Ronald Buschur, Powerwave's Chief Executive Officer. “We have established ourselves as a leader in developing innovative technology for advanced wireless networks, and have invested considerable intellectual and monetary resources to bring this technology to market. We are committed to defending our intellectual property rights to protect our investments in various advanced technologies.”
