Who Will Suffer if Occupy Protesters Have Their Way?

Reports on Monday were suggesting that Occupy demonstrators are joining together across the West Coast in an effort to shut down business at some of the busiest ports in the U.S., from Anchorage to San Diego. According to
CNBC
, a march was scheduled to begin at 5:20 a.m. Pacific time at the Port of Oakland. The Occupy protesters successfully shut down that port in November. The article states that, “Marchers expect to descend even earlier on the sprawling port complex spanning Los Angeles and Long Beach as the work day begins. In Portland, Ore., the protest will get under way at 6 a.m. Occupy groups in Seattle, Tacoma, and the Canadian city of Vancouver are also planning blockades.” "Taking on and blocking the 1 percent at the port is also taking on the global issue of exploitation by capitalism," said Occupy Oakland blockade organizer Barucha Peller. So, with all of that in mind, one has to wonder which companies will hurt, should Occupy succeed in shutting down all West Coast ports. The answer, of course, is any company that ships to and from Asia (notably China) and, really, any shipping company operating in the West Coast. Wal-Mart Stores
WMT
is an obvious starting place. The low-cost store receives a lot of its good from China, and it will therefore suffer if the supply is cut off. Intel
INTC
and Apple
AAPL
are just two of the many companies that bring in components from Asia. The aim of the protesters is obviously to disrupt as many corporations as possible. By shutting down ports, they will achieve that objective.
