Overseas, European markets ended their trading session lower. Britain's FTSE 100 lost 1.29%, Germany's DAX decreased by 1.44% and France's CAC 40 slid by 1.68% on the session. Asian stocks ended their session lower, as well. China's Shanghai Index lost 0.73%, Japan's Nikkei 225 decreased by 0.4%, and the Hang Seng index slid by 2.12%.

On the economic calendar, MBA Mortgage Applications came in at -1/2%, Durable Goods Orders came in at -0.7% versus an estimate of -1.2%, Personal Income came in at 0.4% versus an estimate of 0.3%, Personal Spending came in at 0.1% versus an estimate of 0.3%, Initial Jobless Claims came in at 393K versus an estimate of 390K, Continuing Claims came in at 3691K versus an estimate 3621K. On the commodity front, gold and silver futures traded lower today, with gold trading about 0.06% lower today. Energy futures are mixed, with crude oil down over 1.9% near the $96.16 level and gasoline futures are trading lower by about 1.8%. Natural Gas futures are higher by about 1.8% and copper futures are trading over 0.5% lower.

(NYSE: SFL) Reports Q3 EPS $0.40 vs $0.43 Est; Revenues $73.3M vs $87.50M Est; ReneSola (NYSE: SOL) Reports 3Q EPS per ADS $(0.09) vs $(0.11) Est; Revenues $189.12M vs $221.76M Est; China Digital TV (NYSE: STV) Holding Reports Q3 EPS $0.17-ADS vs $0.18 Est; Revenues $25.9M vs $24.71M Estb; Deere & Co (NYSE: DE) Reports Q4 EPS $1.62 vs $1.43 Est; Revenues $7.90B vs $7.87B

In corporate news, Neuralstem (NYSE: CUR) announced that the first patient to receive stem cells was treated starting last week. The company is testing its therapy for Lou Gherig's Disease.

NiSource (NYSE: NI) announced that it is offering to repurchase any and all of its debt contracts due at 2016. This may be a sign that the company has enough cash to pay off debt and continue with operations.

NetSpend (NASDAQ: NTSP) announced that it will be repurchasing $25 million worth of common shares.
