Ron Paul's latest 3-day "money bomb" fund raising effort has been a massive success thus far. As of Thursday morning, the "Black This Out" money bomb has raised over
$2.3 million
from small individual donors from around the country - and the cash continues to roll in. For those who are unfamiliar with Paul's unconventional, but extremely successful method of raising campaign funds, it works like this - Paul's grassroots supporters organize a date and theme for a "money bomb" and over a specified time period, money comes pouring in from enthusiastic donors over the internet, via either credit card or PayPal. Almost all of these fundraisers have been tremendously successful, and Dr. Paul will not have to worry about money, unlike many of his competitors. Furthermore, all of the donations come from individuals, not banks and corporations. The theme of yesterday's money bomb, "Black This Out," is a play on the mainstream media's refusal to give the Paul campaign the coverage that it deserves given his strong showing in national polls. In fact,
a recent study
by the Pew Research Center confirms that the media is basically ignoring Dr. Paul and his message of liberty. Pew put together a list of 52 mainstream news sources, ranging from newspapers to television, and discovered that Paul has received significantly less coverage than all of the other candidates, including Tim Pawlenty who has already dropped out of the race for the GOP Presidential nomination. Inexplicably, the study revealed that Paul was the primary newsmaker in only 2% of election stories. The University of Minnesota also did a scientific study which shows that Ron Paul has received significantly less speaking time than any other GOP candidate during the debates. Given this conclusive proof that the libertarian Congressman's views are being censored, supporters launched the "Black This Out" money bomb with the goal of raising "a donation total so large that it will be impossible for the media to ignore it." It looks like that is exactly what is going to happen. RunRonPaul.com describes the event - "The “Black This Out” theme of the money bomb claims there is a mainstream media outlet blackout surrounding the Ron Paul campaign. Today, ironically, news reports are confirming that in fact Ron Paul is indeed ignored to a very large degree by the mainstream. The good news (and a testament to the power of his ideas) is that Ron Paul is polling in the double digits (around 14%) despite the fact that he has been the primary news maker in only 2% of all election stories. The “Black This Out” money bomb hopes to draw attention to the media bias against Ron Paul by forcing the media to give Paul and the “Black This Out” money bomb theme coverage by raising a massive amount of money for his campaign in a single day." If you are tired of the mainstream media's obvious bias, and support Ron Paul's message of peace and liberty, consider making a small donation at
