TechCrunch Takes Down Visual.ly, Rebounds For a Strong Return

They say you can never have too much of a good thing. But if you run a website that isn't prepared for a massive increase in traffic, you definitely can have too many hits. Visually, a brand-new website specializing in infographics, launched with an exceptional degree of hype from TechCrunch this morning. The site, which says that it believes infographics are a mixture of “design, journalism and analysis,” was down just minutes ago, offering visitors nothing more than a promising (but unspecific) message: visuallybackshortly2.jpg Perhaps now that Visually has returned, the site will provide its visitors with an infographic to show the exact time at which the site went down, the number of hits that caused the crash, and the likely source from which those hits came.
