Apple Putting Unique Twist On NFC (AAPL)

Apple AAPL may very well put near field communications (NFC) into its next iPhone, but not as you think. NFC is supposed to be the next "hot thing" in mobile payments, turning a cell phone into a digital wallet. Apple is looking to take this one step further, writes AppleInsider. A rumor from last year has Apple using NFC not just as a wallet, but allowing nearby Macs to be turned into "remote computing," so you didn't have to lug your own laptop around. You could just use one that was nearby, complete with custom settings, personal passwords, and even desktop backgrounds. The company has filed patents related to NFC technology, including one that would allow users to obtain information about a range of products wirelessly and instantly. Think different certainly is an apropos phrase here, isn't it?
