US Stock Futures Flat As China's Central Bank Lifts Interest Rates

US stock futures are flat this morning after China's central bank raised interest rates. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 5 points to 12,113.00 and S&P 500 futures dropped 0.20 point to 1,315.60. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.50 point to 2,345.50.

US stocks closed higher, with the Dow gaining 0.57% to close at 12,162 yesterday.

The NFIB index of small business optimism for January is due at 7:30 a.m. ET.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (NASDAQ: TEVA) reported its Q4 non-GAAP EPS at $1.25, versus the consensus of $1.28. TEVA reported its Q4 revenue at $4.42 billion, versus the consensus of $4.64 billion.

Centene Corp (NYSE: CNC) reported its Q4 EPS at $0.50, versus the consensus of $0.48. CNC reported its Q4 revenue at $1.18 billion, versus the consensus of $1.13 billion.

Shares of UBS AG (NYSE: UBS) rose more than 1% in pre-market trading after the bank reported 7% rise in its fourth-quarter net profit.

McAfee Inc (NYSE: MFE) is projected to report its Q4 EPS at $0.69 on revenue of $545.28 million. Sara Lee (NYSE: SLE) is expected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.25 per share on revenue of $2.63 billion. Entergy (NYSE: ETR) is projected to post its Q4 EPS at $1.24 on revenue of $2.68 billion.

Negative sentiment ruled the European markets today. While STOXX Europe 600 Index has dropped 0.34%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.17%.

Asian markets ended in the positive territory, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average adding 0.41% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.38%. The People's Bank of China lifted its benchmark lending and deposit rates by 25 basis points.

The dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.20% to 77.87. The euro rose 0.4% to $1.3631.

Crude futures dropped $1.08 to $86.40 per barrel in electronic trading on Globex. However, gold futures rose $4 to $1,352.20 an ounce.
