Standard & Poors just announced a changed to its S&P 500 index. Covidien

is entering the prestigious index in place of McAfee

which is being acquired by Intel

. Shares of Covidien are higher in the after hours market, gaining $2.51 to $50.35, a gain of 5.25%. Covidien plc develops, manufactures, and sells healthcare products for use in clinical and home settings in the United States and internationally.
