Quicken just made its next move in turning Detroit's Woodward Avenue into "WEBward Avenue." Dan Gilbert, Chairman of Quicken Loans, has placed a number of buildings in downtown Detroit under contract in the hopes that new business will follow. The move, following an earlier one this year in which Gilbert replanted Quicken's corporate headquarters and its near 2000 employees from the suburbs to the city center, is the next step in Gilbert's plan to make downtown Detroit a competitor in the world of technology.
