Should Alphabet's Larry Page Build A Relationship With President-Elect Trump?

Alphabet Inc GOOG GOOGL's co-founder and CEO Larry Page needs to build a close relationship with President-elect Donald Trump, at least according to Adam Zuckerman, the founder of Fosterly.

Speaking to CNBC, Zuckerman argued that Alphabet is one of the largest companies in the world with upward of 70,000 employees. Given the large size of companies like Google it is only natural that they have spent a lot of money on lobbying activities in Washington and they have indeed benefited from these activities.

For example, Google stands to benefit from patent and labor reform, antitrust and security policies.

Google And The Potential Under Trump

The problem for Google is simple. According to Zuckerman, a mere 33 Google employees contributed to Trump's campaign versus 1,400 who supported his opponent Hillary Clinton.

However, Google has accepted the outcome and now realize that they can work together and put behind partisan politics. Page took part in Trump's tech summit at Trump Tower while Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt who publicly supported the Clinton campaign met with Trump twice.

"The eventuality in the new ecosystem is that they need to work with the administration," Zuckerman explained. "So, they are reaching out."

Finally, Zuckerman suggested that Google's lobbying efforts in Washington will continue but the Trump administration is only one part of its lobbying efforts as it has great across in the Hill and the company's own vice president for public policy Susan Molinari is former three-term Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
