Jon Najarian on CNBC's Fast Money Halftime Report spoke about unusually high options volume in Rite Aid Corporation RAD on Friday. He noticed that traders bought around 25,000 contracts of the April 7 calls.
Najarian added that the stock is trading around $1 or 17 percent above its 52-week low and approximately $1.75 or 20 percent below its 52-week high. He thinks that this might be a speculation about a merger or acquisition, although there are no such news in the media. He owns both stock and options and he is planning to hold options for quite a while because they expire in April.
