Microsoft Corporation MSFT focus on the cloud seems to be paying off quite well as the company is seeing businesses, especially small businesses, adapting to it at a rapid rate.

Microsoft Small And Medium Business (SMB) VP Cindy Bates was on Fox Business Monday to discuss the needs of small business and their migration to the cloud.

Small Business Tech Revolution

“The needs of a small business are similar to a large business,” Bates said. “Reaching new customers, growing sales, internal productivity and what’s so exciting at this point in time, which I see as a phenomenal intersection of entrepreneurship and technology that we call a small business technology revolution, is that the solutions that previously a few years ago were available only to the very largest companies are now available to the smallest.”

“So, for the cost of a couple of Starbucks coffees, a small business can get all of the software they need and what’s really exciting is the impact that the technology can have.”

Small Businesses Driving Growth

Bates was asked if the cost to operate in the cloud has come down for the small businesses. She replied, “We are on our fifth year of triple-digit growth at Microsoft with our Office 365 product. We are now selling more cloud than on-prem and it really is a growth driver.”

“If you listen to our last earnings call, small business was called out specifically as a driver of the growth of the company. It’s our fastest growing segment because of how transformational technology is for small businesses,” Bates concluded.
