CNBC's Stock Pops & Drops From December 17

On CNBC's Stock Pops & Drops, Dan Nathan said that he would not chase General Mills, Inc. GIS after it jumped 2.07 percent. He said that the company reaffirmed the guidance, but it posted 3 percent lower sales. The stock is trading at 18 times earnings with no growth, added Nathan. Guy Adami thinks that there is more room on the upside for Seadrill Ltd SDRL because the shorts will have to start to cover after the stock spiked 10.55 percent on Wednesday. He added that the all clear sign is still not there. Karen Finerman said that VeriFone Systems Inc PAY gained 9.00 percent on an analyst upgrade. The company should have new revenue streams according to the analysis. Steve Grasso explained that Cliffs Natural Resources Inc CLF dropped 5.74 percent after Credit Suisse lowered its price target to $1, claiming that the company needs recapitalization. Grasso would not buy the stock.
