What Keeps Lululemon CEO Christine Day Up At Night?

Lululemon Athletica Inc. LULU CEO Christine Day was on CNBC this afternoon to discuss the challenges of running of the firm, as well as her goals in social media. “We were a little bit later to the web because, very early on, there was a contractual deal that didn't work out,” Day revealed. “When I came board it was about getting everything ready for that.” When asked if this would be the year that Lululemon pushes hard in the social media space, she said. “The social media site, I think in the Facebook/Twitter space we're one of the most active companies. In terms of applications in social media, that's the next strategy.” With regard to supply and demand, Day is dedicated to delivering product but not at the expense of quality. “We've gotten more product in for the first quarter; we might be a little light in March. We're addressing that now. In terms of it costing more, I don't really see that happening.” “Quality will not be something we sacrifice,” Day adds. “We've worked really hard working with our suppliers to grow them at the level that they produce that quality.” Finally, Day said that the one thing that keeps her up at night is the challenge of managing the supply chain. “It's about scaling growth,” she said. “If you look at our growth over the last few years it has been phenomenal. That puts a lot of pressure on a young management team.”
