Swiss banking giants Credit Suisse
CS and UBS
UBS have to hold $19.6 billion in additional capital as a result of the new Basel III banking standards.
The newspaper NZZ am Sonntag reported that analysts are saying may not need to raise fresh capital because their earnings should allow them to generate the necessary amounts to increase their respective capital bases.
UBS has a Tier 1 capital ratio of 16.4 percent and Credit Suisse's is 16.3 percent, according to CNBC. Credit Suisse also believes it has enough capital to continue paying its dividend.
