Ellen DeGeneres Leaves American Idol

Ellen DeGeneres has announced she is leaving the hit TV show "American Idol"

DeGeneres said that it was very hard for her to make this decision. "It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings." I loved the experience ... and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be." DeGeneres had replaced former singer Paula Abdul after Abdul left the show over contract disputes. Abdul was a judge for the series' first 8 seasons. There is a major shakeup going on with the judges of American Idol. Notorious judge Simon Cowell announced that this past season was his last and Kara Dioguardi was also recently fired from the hit Fox series. The lone judge remaining is Randy Jackson.
