Speaking to Benzinga, TD Ameritrade Chief Strategist JJ Kinahan said that historical volatility for BlackBerry Ltd BBRY was relatively low, at the 11th percentile.
Kinahan noted that the stock's implied volatility according to the options market was at the 55th percentile.
Buying action was seen in the April $10 Calls and Kinahan felt that it could be an indication that the market was looking for movement, not just at the earnings announcement, but afterwards as well.
BlackBerry Ltd was scheduled to report Q4 earnings Friday before the market open and it recently traded at $9.29, up 0.11 percent.
Kevin Riley and Brianna Valleskey contributed to this report.
