Lean Hog Futures Fall

April lean hogs are trading at 69.40, down 0.95 cents/lb. June lean hogs are trading at 78.17, down 0.80 cents/lb Lean hog futures are trading lower just after the open. Chatter about weather for hog movement, cash prices and trade policy is making the rounds. Tuesday's USDA hog slaughter was 444,000 head versus 436,000 head a year ago. The total hog slaughter for the week is now 876,000 head versus 870,000 head a year ago. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) monthly cold storage report is due out Thursday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
