S&P 500 Index Futures Trading Lower In Volatile Session

Joel Elconin is the co-host of Benzinga's #PreMarket Prep, a daily trading idea radio show. S&P 500 index futures were trading lower by nine points at 2107 in Thursday's session. During the after-hours session, it immediately found resistance just above Wednesday's close (2116), reaching 2116.50 before declining to 2099.75. Off the opening bell, the index opened at 2104.75 and quickly dropped and matched the pre-market low before reversing course. So far, the index has reached 2111.75 and fallen back under 2110. Despite the index being in the red, seven of the top 10 components are in the green. Leading the way on the upside is JP Morgan JPM, which was trading higher by $0.27 at $66.97. It is followed by Procter & Gamble PG, which was trading higher by $0.17 at $78.73. The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust SPY was trading at $210.91, down $1.01.
