Live Cattle, Lean Hogs Higher

Thursday's USDA Cattle slaughter was 113,000 head versus a year ago at 117,000 head. Live Cattle futures traded mostly higher on Thursday ahead of the USDA Cattle on Feed report due out after the close on Friday. At last check June Live Cattle was trading 152.27, up 0.92 and August Cattle was trading at 150.87, up 1.15. Thursday's USDA hog slaughter was 425,000 head versus 372,000 head a year ago. Lean Hogs traded choppy on Thursday before moving higher in the afternoon. At last check June hogs were trading at 83.92, up 1.37 and July Hogs were trading at 83.90 up 0.55. October Hogs at last check were trading at 73.90, up 0.25.
