Livestock Futures Slightly Weaker In Thin, Pre-Holiday Trading

February Live Cattle was trading at 160.32, down 0.275. March Feeder Cattle was at 214.66, down 60. Cash Beef prices were up $3.22 mid-day to $242.58. Slaughter came in above trade expectations at 116,000 head. February Lean Hogs were trading down 0.047 at 80.17. Lean Hogs Futures for June were trading at 89.10, down 0.55. April was 82.95, down 0.825. Slaughter on Tuesday came in 431,000 head. Cash is steady to weak. The Hog and Pig report was considered slightly bearish across the board. There is expected to be more hogs available for slaughter into the spring of 2015. Livestock Futures trading closes at 1:15 p.m. ET.
