Australia – ANZ Roy Morgan weekly Consumer Sentiment for the week ended July 20: 113.5 (prior 108.7) via ForexLive

ANZ Roy Morgan weekly Consumer Sentiment for the week ended July 20. Nice one, up from 108.7 last week to 113.5.

  • That's a 4.4% jump
  • Confidence now nearly back above pre-budget levels, and close to longer-term average

From ANZ:

  • Rise in “financial situation” both looking forward to a year's time (+7.1%) and compared to a year ago (+5.1% )
  • Notes this is most closely correlated with consumer demand and has almost fully recovered from the budget-related weakness,
  • But still below the level it was averaging at the start of the year

-

Not usually a high priority data point for the FX market, but it all goes into the mix. Most focus today for the Aussie markets is RBA governor Stevens' speech, due at 0300GMT.
