Consumer Confidence And Home Price Index Better Than Expected

Consumer confidence was just released for the month of October, and results were better than expected, as was the home price index for August. Consumer confidence rose to 50.2, up from the prior month's reading of 48.6. Economists had expected a reading of 49.0. Home price index rose 0.4%, far better than the consensus forecast of 0.2% down. Markets have paired their losses on this news, as the S&P 500 is now down 2.9 points. The Dow is down 23 points and the NASDAQ is down 8 points.
