Strengthening Yen Good For Delta Airlines (DAL)

The strengthening yen is good for Japanese travelers and the companies they fly with, according to Delta Airlines DAL President Edward Bastian. Bastian was upbeat in a news conference Thursday in Tokyo as Japanese travelers are taking their spending power to U.S. locations such as Hawaii and the U.S. territories of Guam and Saipan, popular vacation locales for Japanese citizens. "Our goal in Asia is to be the carrier of choice for both Asian as well as American customers," he said at the conference. "We have seen significant improvement in our outbound travel." Delta said that its Asian revenue has increased 30% year on year in the latest quarter, in large part because of the yen's strength. Delta is the leading U.S. carrier to Asia in regards to departures and seats, and sees Asia in general and Japan in particular as key parts of its global business. Haneda Airport, in Tokyo, is among the latest expansion for Delta, as the domestic hub starts adding in international flights. Delta still sees Narita International, also part of the metropolitan Tokyo area, as its regional hub. Click here to get trading ideas that could bring you a 100% return.
