Here in the States, our politicians give us plenty of sex scandals, but over on the other side of the Atlantic, the Europeans take the concept to whole new levels of decadence and, in the case of Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, rock 'n' roll-style debauchery. Take note, Republicans and Democrats – this is the level of the bar. According to the
First Post
, Berlusconi was caught on a recording bragging about sleeping with eight women in one night, and regretting the fact that he could not get through another three. Berlusconi is a seedy man. The 74-year-old, who really should be concentrating on his country's floundering economy, has recently been accused of paying for sex with a minor, part of a larger accusation that he has been supplied with prostitutes by, among others, a convicted cocaine dealer and his wife. YES, his wife allegedly bought him hookers. Puts Anthony Weiner to shame, doesn't it? "Last night I had a queue outside my door," Berlusconi tells coke dealer Gianpaolo Tarantini in a recording from New Year's Day 2009, as printed in the First Post. "There were 11 of them. I only managed to do eight of them, I couldn't manage any more. You just can't get round to all of them. But this morning I feel great, I'm pleased with my stamina." Why don't we recap just for a minute? That is a conversation between a drug baron and the most powerful politician in Italy about sex with multiple women. This is real life too, and not a bad soap opera. Beautiful TV presenter and model Belen Rodriguez is a notable conquest of nasty old Berlusconi. Whether Rodriguez's motivation was an attraction to power or simple fear is unknown. According to First Post, and unsurprisingly, Gianfranco Fini, speaker of the Italy's lower house and a former ally of Berlusconi, led the calls for the prime minister's resignation. "No one understands why the premier is dedicating a good deal of his time to questions not related to fighting the economic crisis and re-launching the economy."
