According to the Boston Business Journal, software developer startup Hadapt has managed to drum up $9.5 million in investment and is now relocating from Stamford, Conn., to Cambridge MA.

In addition, the company has named Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan, a former Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) executive, to the board.

According to the article, “Hadapt, co-founded by chief scientist and Yale University professor Daniel Abadi, is developing a big data platform to integrate Hadoop with a structured data store for high-performance analytics across structured and unstructured data.”

“The company is integrating Hadoop with parallel database systems, and developing new data architectures, loading technologies, parallel processing and even graph processing, according to Abadi. Hadapt said it is working to address the challenges of “big data” — information found in non-traditional corporate sources such as photos, videos and social media — not only in terms of the mix of structured and unstructured data but in issues such as data silos and scalability.”

Hadapt's data platform, Hadapt Adaptive Analytical Platform, is in beta test. Justin Borgman, CEO and co-founder, believes that it will be available for delivery by the year's end.
