It has overtaken movies like "Pokemon Detective Pikachu" and "Warcraft," which grossed $433 million and $439 million, respectively. This is a major achievement for the movie and the video game industry as a whole.

Chris Pratt, who voiced the character of Mario, and Charlie Day, who played Luigi, shared their thoughts on potential sequel ideas in a pre-release interview. The duo suggested that a sequel could explore adaptations of popular Mario games, such as "Mario Golf" or "Luigi's Mansion."
Pratt and Day also hinted that a post-credits scene could potentially set up the plot for a sequel, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what could be next. Pratt expressed his enthusiasm about this possibility, saying, "There's a post-credit sequence that gives you a taste of what the sequel could be about. And that gets me very, very excited."
