Who's Still Playing Pokemon GO? A Benzinga Office Survey

One of the biggest questions surrounding Nintendo Co., Ltd.'s NTDOY Pokemon Go is it's staying power. Will the game's popularity sustain itself like Activision Blizzard, Inc.'s ATVI Candy Crush, or is it just another fad like Zynga Inc's ZNGA Farmville?

I wanted to find out, so I conducted a highly scientific survey of Benzinga staffers to see who's still playing the game, and who isn't.

Nick Donato, newsdesk analyst (level 10): I'm not playing as much as I used to. I was two days late, so I was always kind of behind. Also there isn't a diverse amount of Pokemon where I live.
Conclusion: Excuses

Andrew Efimoff, newsdesk intern (level 7 or 8): I stopped. It's a flawed game. It just felt like the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. I started a week late because I was on vacation, so everyone around me was already five or six levels ahead of where I was and I couldn't keep up.
Conclusion: Bitter

Luke Jacobi, head of product (level 16): I play a pretty decent amount. I just got an Aerodactyl. Get on my level. (Ed. note: cannot confirm if he actually got an Aerodactyl).
Conclusion: Secretly taking it way too seriously.

Dimitri Mitropoulis, developer (n/a): I downloaded it but haven't played. Once you install it it requires permissions. I don't accept permissions very cavalierly. I don't have a Facebook and I never have because I read the terms of service. So that was a pretty big deterrent for me.
Conclusion: Typical developer

Carter Bock, associate operations manager (n/a): I never played. I played for two seconds for work to get a picture and that's it.
Conclusion: Anti-establishment

Jamie Kudla, UI/UX developer (level 18): Yeah, like whenever I'm walking somewhere. I'll keep playing. I'm interested to see what updates they come out with. I'm not really addicted, I just really want to catch them all. I don't go out of my way to catch Pokemon, but best believe if I come across an Electabuzz on the way to the gym or something I'm turning the car around.
Conclusion: Send help

JP Myers, IT (level 18): Oh, all the time. I play it all the time every day. I play it while I walk to work.
Conclusion: Addicted

Mike Ackley (n/a): I actually don't. And I have a scathing review. I have a lot of nostalgia for Pokemon. I'd pick up a Gameboy and play some Pokemon if I had a Gameboy. But I don't want to play Pokemon Go because the mechanics of the game are very different. I want to battle people. I want to battle other Pokemon trainers. So I'm going to wait for a couple of months until they get some new features in there and they fix some of the problems with their servers.
Conclusion: Angry

Ben Dickman, developer (level 12): You mean like how many times per day? I check it probably seven times per day. Do I play it actively or passively? (Ed. note: this was rhetorical). I don't know. Can you even play it passively?
Conclusion: Existential crisis

Agatha Pawlikowski, business development (level 4): I don't play often, so I don't know if I'm the best source. I have a Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and I think that's it.
Conclusion: Over it

Jason Raznick, founder and CEO (n/a): I have it but I don't play. I downloaded it but I couldn't figure out how to use it.
Conclusion: Old

Garrett Cook, head of research (n/a):
Me: Garrett, do you play Pokemon GO?
Garrett: No.
Me: Why not?
Garrett: No.
Conclusion: Leave me alone.

What did we learn here? I'm not sure. Maybe that Benzinga developers appear to be bitterly divided. Regardless, let us know what your Pokemon GO habits are in the comments below.
