The major averages opened the day lower on Friday, but managed to rally back into positive territory and post strong gains for the session. The announcement by Hosni Mubarak that he is relinquishing power in Egypt helped to lift the market as the day wore on. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 44 points to close at 12.273. gained 0.60% to $133.20. Volume was on the light side with just 136.7 million SPY shares trading hands compared to a 3-month daily average of 146 million. The PowerShares QQQ Trust ETF

, which tracks the performance of the Nasdaq 100, surged 0.72% to close at $58.44. The quad Q's have jumped more than 7% year-to-date.
