CPI for the US came in as expected at an annual rate of two percent. This release shows the concern over deflation is contained for now, though the rise in inflation coupled with a drop in Treasury rates continues to pressure savers through the proxy of Real Rates:

  • 0.3% vs 0.3% exp m/m. Prior 0.2%
  • Core 1.8% vs 1.7% exp y/y. Prior 1.7%
  • 0.2% vs 0.1% exp m/m. Prior 0.2%
