TASER Body Cameras to be Used Widely by LA Police Force - Analyst Blog

Public safety technology provider TASER International's (TASR) advance body camera is gaining popularity among the U.S. police departments.  The company said that the Los Angeles Police Department (“LAPD”) has decided to purchase 860 AXON body-worn video cameras along with a five-year subscription to EVIDENCE.com.

LAPD is expected to place the order in Dec 14 and the same will be shipped in the first half of 2015. TASER has reasons to cheer going into the New Year as the Mayor of Los Angeles announced a plan to equip all 7,000 LAPD officers with body cameras in 2015. LAPD will become the largest police force in the country to use this advanced camera to bring more transparency and accountability into the system.

Apart from body camera, TASER International also provides a cloud-based storage device service EVIDENCE.com, which helps the user to collect, transfer, manage, retrieve and share any form of digital evidence. TASER will customize the EVIDENCE.com service plan as per the requirements of LAPD. A new service named the "Officer Safety Plan" is being developed by TASER in association with LAPD.

The Officer Safety Plan, an improved variant of EVIDENCE.com, will have all existing features, plus unlimited storage, a service plan that includes automatic upgrades of the AXON cameras every 2.5 years and upgrades of the associated TASER devices every 5 years, as well as full hardware equipment warranties and service.

Last month, TASER International clinched another order from the Winston-Salem Police Department for 623 AXON body-worn video cameras with a five-year subscription to EVIDENCE.com (read: TASER Stock Rallies as Police Force Orders AXON Cameras).
