Republic Services to Build Largest US Recycling Complex - Analyst Blog

Republic Silver State Disposal, Inc., a subsidiary of Republic Services, Inc. (RSG), recently announced the commencement of construction of a new recycling facility spanning 110,000 square feet in Southern Nevada. The new facility is expected to begin operations in fall 2015.

Named as the Southern Nevada Recycling Complex, the new facility will be adjacent to an existing 88,000 square feet facility and will be the largest residential recycling complex in the U.S. This facility will feature advanced recycling technologies such as automated, touch screen controls, remote access and the ability to recover all grades of plastics and containers. The new facility is expected to process roughly 1,000 tons of mixed recyclables per day and aims to cater to future residential growth in the region including increased commercial, industrial and construction recycling demands.

At the same time, it is expected to create significant employment opportunities and boost the overall economy of this region. The facility is expected to double the residential recycling capacity in Southern Nevada. This facility will also function as a learning center for the community as well as tourists and will give them a fair idea of all recycling processes.

Republic Services is the second largest domestic non-hazardous solid waste company in the U.S. It provides non-hazardous solid waste disposal services for commercial, industrial, municipal and residential applications through a network of collection companies. The company is focusing on a series of quality acquisition opportunities, primarily of recycling assets, which is likely to act as a catalyst for healthy long-term growth within its top 25 markets.
